Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council prepare for winter

Having already felt a sharp winter frost and seen reports of sudden snowfall on the news its no wonder those giant motorway sign boards have been flashing "gritting in progress" recently.

Whilst their warm amber glow re-assures motorists that the roads they are driving on are being maintained and kept safe its still a sure fire sign to take extra care.

And with councils finalising their winter maintenance plans across the country there was just enough time for Blackburn with Darwen Borough council to add an additional gritter to their fleet.

Specialising in the design and manufacture of these gritters since their acquisition of the Telstar company in 2009, CPD have recently won the above order to supply a new gritter to the council.

The authority has opted for an MAN TGM 18.250 4x4 chassis mounted with a 6m³ CPD Telstar body. Combine this with the addition of a special chassis wax to protect the vehicle from harsh weather conditions and a DIN carrier plate complete with snowplough the authority is sending out a message of intent to its local residents.
